Employee Wellness Program

The West Central Texas Municipal Water District wellness program was developed in
2002 in an effort to provide staff with the opportunity to: improve the well-being of all
employees, to increase employee productivity, to improve employee morale, to reduce
employee absenteeism and to reduce health care costs. Three primary objectives have
been the basis of this program:

· To provide wellness education through brochures, websites, seminars,
workshops, courses, and special events.
· To provide exercise and dietary information and programs that promote
physiological benefits
· To offer incentives for employee participation, determination and positive results
achieved through the wellness program.

Components of the Wellness Program
Wellness Education
This component focuses on health promotion/lifestyle modification programs. Brochures, newsletters, websites, seminars, workshops, and short courses are used to present such wellness topics as nutrition, stress management, osteoporosis, exercise, and aging. A Wellness Fair will be offered every 5 years to add a very important aspect to the Educational Component. The fair features a wide array of health, exercise, and lifestyle related information. Free screenings will be provided for blood pressure, cholesterol, hearing, vision, and body fat. Demonstrations of new cardio options may be presented.
